The Second War of Magog

This article reveals the FINAL FUTURE WAR prophecy and is taken from my book and DVD entitled, The FUTURE WAR Prophecies. After the Battle of Armageddon, the world experiences a thousand years of peace during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ. This is according to Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3, which both foretell,

“He shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.”

He refers to the Messiah Jesus Christ. He will have to judge between many peoples and rebuke strong nations afar off, but these nations won’t wage war anymore. There appear to be three primary reasons that the Millennium will be void of wars.

1. Isaiah and Micah point out that all of the world’s swords and spears, which represent weapons of warfare, will be converted into agricultural tools, such as plowshares and pruning hooks. Also, they won’t “learn war anymore.”

2. Jesus Christ will rule the nations with a rod of iron, which will keep them in line. This rod of iron is referred to in Psalm 2:9, Revelation 19:15 and the verse below.

“‘He shall rule them, (the nations), with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’” (Rev. 2:27, NKJV; emphasis added)

3. Satan will be unable to sway the nations any longer because he will be confined throughout the Millennium in the Abyss, which is also called the Bottomless Pit.

“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.” (Rev. 20:1-3) 

However, observe the caveat in the last verse above that announces, “But after these things he must be released for a little while.” The next passage tells us why Satan gets released.

“Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prisonand will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (Rev. 20:7-10)

There are three reasons for Satan’s release.

1. To prove that he was, is and will always be a deceiver. Even one-thousand years in “his prison” couldn’t persuade him to change his evil ways.

2. To lead a final rebellion of all the world’s sinners who were tired of being ruled by Jesus Christ’s rod of iron. Yes, there will still be a sin-nature in the Millennium. Isaiah the prophet tells us this. In the verse below we discover that in the Millennium there is an age of accountability. Everyone born during that period will have one hundred years to make a decision to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.

“No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.” (Isaiah 65:20)

This means, that unlike today, those who commit a sin in the Millennium will not be able to use the excuse that, “the Devil made me do it,” because the Devil will be chained up in the Abyss.

3. To send Satan into his seventh and final abode, the Lake of Fire.

This final future war prophecy happens after “the thousand years have expired.” At that time, Satan will travel to “the four corners of the earth” and assemble a massive international army, “whose number is as the sand of the sea.” They are going to deploy to the “beloved city” of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is where the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS, with His rod of iron, will be hailing from.

“At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the Lord, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem. No more shall they follow the dictates of their evil hearts.” (Jeremiah 3:17)

During the Millennium, the nations will gather to Jerusalem to pay homage to Jesus Christ and “No more shall they follow the dictates of their evil hearts.” However after the Millennium, Satan will surround the beloved city with the rebels who choose to “follow the dictates of their evil hearts.”

Somehow, Satan is able to influence these deluded troops into thinking that they can fist fight and fireball their way to freedom from the rod of iron. Unless they can reconvert the plowshares and pruning forks back into swords and spears and also learn how to make war, they won’t have useful weapons nor know how to fight this final battle.

Moreover, how do they deploy from the four corners of the earth to their destination in Jerusalem? Will there be planes, trains and automobiles at that time? Will they be arriving as a cavalry of horsemen and foot soldiers? Will they even have protective helmets and matching uniforms? How will Satan suit them up for his last stand? It’s all a moot point, because no sooner do they arrive until the “fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.”

Comparing the Two Magog Invasions

Some teach that the Magog invasion identified in Ezekiel 38 is the same as the one in Revelation 20:7-10. However, there are several distinct differences between these two biblical predictions. Some of these dissimilarities are provided below.

* The battlefields:  Ezek. 39:2; 38:16 takes place on the mountains of Israel, but Rev. 20:9 says the troops surround the camp of the saints and the beloved city of Jerusalem.

* The defeats: Ezek. 38:19-22 predicts a great earthquake, every man’s sword will be against his brother, pestilence and bloodshed, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. In Rev. 20:9 only fire comes down from God out of heaven.

* The troops: Ezek. 38:2-7 identifies a limited group of localized Muslim nations led by Russia that invade from the north. Rev. 20:8 speaks of an international army, whose number is as the sand of the sea, from nations which are in the four quarters of the earth.

* The weapons of warfare: Ezek. 39:9-10 says that Israel will be burning the enemies’ weapons for seven years. According to Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3, the weapons that used to exist in the old earth have since been destroyed and turned into farm implements, (plowshares and pruning hooks). It hardly seems that Israel will be able to burn weapons that apparently no longer exist.

* The timing of the weapons’ burning: Ezek. 39:9 emphasizes the weapons supply can provide fuel to burn for seven years, but shortly after the Rev. 20:7-10 Magog prophecy concludes, the White Throne Judgment happens in Rev. 20:11-15 and then the Eternal Order starts in Rev. 21 and 22. It seems unlikely that weapons will be burning in these two aftermath scenarios.

* The timing of Israel’s rebirth vs. the reign of Jesus Christ: Ezek. 38:8 points out that the Gog of Magog invasion takes place shortly after the Jews are restored to their homeland Israel. Rev. 20:7 says that Satan is loosed after Jesus the Messiah has reigned over the world for one thousand years.

* The timing of the regathering of Israel: Ezek. 38:8 points out that the Jews are regathered from the nations to Israel. In the Millennium, there is no hint of an additional Jewish dispersion that would require another regathering. Thus, Rev. 20:7-10 happens over one thousand years after Israel had been regathered.

* The leaders of the invasions: Ezek. 38:2-11 says it’s Gog of Magog, but in Revelation 20:7-8 it’s clearly Satan released from the abyss.

I highly recommend this book for those who want to gain a better understanding of the prophecies found in Ezekiel 38 and 39.

Conclusion

As has been the case with several of the prophetic wars identified within this book, the LORD intervenes to win this war. This final war serves the purposes of purging the rebels from the earth and eliminating Satan from all future activities involving God’s people. Shortly after this war the Eternal Order commences and it will be characterized, not by war, but by the following.

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things, (including wars), have passed away.” (Revelation 22:1-4, NKJV; emphasis added)
